Hi..
The network sends out a special tone (cue signal) on a separate audio channel during the programming when it is time to put on a local commercial. Automated equipment in the headend senses the tone and switches the programming to a local commercial.. In the past it started a VCR but now it starts a DVR playback device or computer playback device.movie
