Will a US Direct TV system work in Europe?

I was wondering if the US system would work in Europe (Spain) ?

Yes it may work but you would need a 2.4 metre dish at the very least, these in Spain would cost maybe $1500 -$2000 at a guess.
You would be better off having sky digital out there.
