Transponder Dish Pointing Questions

Greetings All,
I am a mobile user (full time RVer) who constantly needs to reset my dish. Most of the time, I have no problem getting a signal strength of over 70 on the recommended transponders 2 and 1, but occasionally, I cannot. Other transponders may have much higher signal strength, but I'm not sure if they even make a difference. My receiver sees signal strength on many other transponders.

Does any one know why transponders 1 and 2 are recommended?

If I can get a signal strength of 82 on transponder 18 vs. signal strength 58 on transponder 2 will I truly be better off using transponder 18?

Thanks in advance,
John

Even though I am European user I may be able to help you out if you tell me what the satellite name is.

Well I don't know if i'm correct on this one but I know that transponders have different signal strengths even if they are on the same satellite.
But I am assuming that you won't find the same channels on transponder 18 and 58 right?

Maybe transponder 1 and 2 are recommended because they give a weaker signal than the other transponders, which means that if you have a good signal on a weak transponder then you will have even better signal on the rest of the transonders.
