Is the DirecTV HD DVR really that bad?

I am thinking about switching from cable to DirecTV since I will be making an HD TV purchase shortly. I have used the Comcast DVR which was mediocre (and not as good as TIVO, which I used in the past). How is the interface for the DirecTV DVR? I have heard from previous reports that there were "problems" with these DVRs, though I'm not sure what makes the TIVO receivers that much better. Many thanks for your responses!

My wife has the Directv dvr and loves it. She is getting one for me next week. The only problem with Directv, is when it rains or snows, you lose your picture. We have had only a slight problem with a box popping up, but calling tech support fixed the problem.

Send a message via Yahoo to dishrodger
if I were you, I'd go w/Dish. No upfront cost and little or no problems with equipment. Also dish gives you more HD channels.
