Troubleshooting a Direct TV hd system just installed
Yesterday, my hd service was installed. When the techs left I had all my channels; later that night, a thunderstorm came through along with some heavy rain. It was then that I started to lose channels and some pixelated. This morning, I tried and I had all of the channels back. Then early this evening, I lost many of the hd channels and cold not pick up anything but hbo sho and a few more. I reset the hd dvr and there was no improvement. The installer place the dish away from my house - around 125-140 feet or so because that is where he found the line of sight. The cable is in conduit and the multiswitch is installed. Could this be related to how far away the dish is from the house and that is why the channels in the 200 range are not showing up? Or could it be that the dish somehow is not aligned properly? Any ideas on this? Its kind of strange. I would have expected it not to work right from the beginning. I am not sure what the night sky would have to do with this, even if its cloudy; my service with my old dishes worked just fine.
I did contact Dish TV but found them very pushy and I researched Dish on the internet and they have had alot of unhappy customers. If DTV had to put the dish that far away, then I would assume that Dish Net would have to do the same thing. Is there not any boosters available to beef up the signal. I know that a booster was put on my house awhile ago when I had cable tv. Thanks much!: |

it maybe that the dish is not peaked in. DTV should have no problem with that run, however the kaku (hd) dish are very picky(5 satellites for HD).
Dish is not as touchy (3 satellites). You need a tech there, unless you know whta you are doing & have a meter. |

Trees can be blown in line with the satellite during a storm an cause you to lose signal you can check the HD test channels 480 and 481 they should say confirmed working if not call your Technician directly if you can
