What do I need to install a dish (SWM, etc)
So, I live in a MDU building and have roof access and closet access to the homeruns.
Basically, Im putting the AU-9 on the roof and feeding the coax into the closet directly below. At that point I have ONE coax homerun to the unit and in a panel it splits to two runs (one in bedroom one in livingroom). There is one additional unit with the exact same setup as mine. We both want 1 HD DVR and 1 HD receiver. I have a multiswitch but am understanding that will not support what I'm doing. (Zinwell WB68) I am understanding I need to get a SWM8 and connect my homeruns to that. I have splitters (15-2150 mhz) to put both in the split in the panels, as well as the wall for the DVR to have two feeds in. Will this all work correctly with that setup? Let me know if you need any additional info, thanks guys |

You wont want to use a swm8 because you will have to pull 4 runs from the antenna to the closet the you can run single coaxes to each receiver or hd dvr that you want. You will need the proper swm splitter for each drop you want to make. Each run will be capable of handling dual tuners. If you are running an hr20 model or above they will be swm capable. You could also get a swm LNB and then you would only need one coax to the closet and proper swm splitter from there 8. You can run up to 8 channels on each of those units.

What do I need to install a dish (SWM, etc)
Hi!
I'm not an expert but I've been messing with dishes since the days of Sky analogue so you might find this useful. Here's a typical Sky "minidish" fixed directly to a wall with a bracket. The bracket allows minimal adjustment for elevation (up down tilt) and for sideways alignment. This type is useful where the wall almost faces the satellite. It has a special "universal" LNB on its arm. Most Sky minidishes are supplied with a 1.5 inch diameter tube and separate wall mount bracket, which allows a much wider angle of east/west adjustment. Installing a Sky dish The "Sky Digital satellite" is actually a cluster of satellites positioned above the equator and 28.2 degrees east of the meridian. So (in the UK) your dish will point in a south easterly direction and must be aligned extremely accurately because that tiny cluster of satellites is about 23,000 miles away. This is a larger dish. It's actually about 80cm in diameter and I think it's made under the name of "Orbital". It has a standard "40mm neck" universal LNB clamped to its arm. ----------------- Albert To know more details about the dish installation click here Dish installation(SMW) |
