NPR on Direct TV?

I have not had TV for a long time. So my understanding of how it all works may be outdated. I have decided to buy one and subscribe to a satellite provider. One thing I'd like to get is National Public Radio. I called Direct TV today to find out what NPR programming I could get, and in which packages. I talked to three people, and I still don't know. Each blithely said, "oh, yes, you can get that." When pushed, they didn't even know what NPR is. I asked to see, online, what NPR stations I could get. I was told to hit "print channel lineup." When I do that, no NPR stations show up. I pointed that out to the sales person, and she got angry and said, "Look, it's channel 1624, and you will get it. Now do you want to place an order, or not?" There is no channel 1624 on any of the packages listed on the webpage, available to me. How do I find out? Is there such a thing as a direct feed for NPR, or does it have to come through a radio station?
Thank you for any help anyone can give this frustrated old woman.

If you want National Public Radio then go out and purchase a Sirius or XM radio/boombox and subscribe to XM or Sirius radio.
