I'm dubious about the picture

I just had Dish Network installed in my apartment. I have a TV in the living room, and a second one in my bedroom. Last night late at night when I was watching General Hospital(a favorite soap of mine) I noticed blotches of color in the background. Like for example if I was to focus on the background behind where a character was talking, like a door or a wall, I saw what appeared to be blotches or perhaps squares of color growing and then shrinking. Needless to say I got rather disappointed fast. I called my local provider and he had me check my signal strength. That turned out okay. He then suggested I call the tech people at Dish Network. The lady on the phone had me do something similar, although it was more in-depth. She also said it appears that the signal I'm getting is pretty good.

All she could suggest is to wait and see if it happens again tonight, and if it does happen, go into my living room and watch the channel there for awhile and see if I see these blotches.

Have any of you noticed this on your TV's? I'm not sure but it might be what is known as pixelization. What appears to be littles squares of color grouped and moving together.

Let me know what you think.

Well I noticed something tonight. I was watching Mike Hammer which has recently been released on DVD. While watching a scene I was looking at the background wall and there it was again. Green and brown squares of color shifting around like cells underneath a microscope. You might not notice it if you don't look at the background, but at times it is most definitely there. Any of you notice this yet?

Pixelation guys. It's called pixelation and it's not my imagination. It is there as a by-product of digital compression.

Hello, did you ever get to the bottom of this problem? I just got a DVR625 and I noticed the exact same thing! Not a major problem, but very annoying!

I talked with someone at Dish Network and they told me to go to the local shop and get an attenuator and try that. I have not added yet. But will try it pretty soon.

I thought is was just me, but I noticed the exact same thing you did...with the didtal distortion and background color surge. Does yours do it on live tv or just recorded? I am still investigating this problem so I haven't tested everything yet. Let me know if the attenuator works.

Been a couple days now and my picture has improved. I did a little rewiring in the back. The installer had the RCA cables running too close to the speaker and power cables. I also moved my center channel speaker away from the receiver (Magnets are bad for computers!) Hopefully everything will stay good!

compression would decreased file size for faster feed

Is pixelisation only relevant to the dish network or the tv set also? Can a HDtv rectify the problem to a certain extent or it will be present till the issue of compression is not resolved? And faster feeds will achieve this regardless of the network?
