i wanna be able to get free PPV from direct tv, is there a way to get hardware and software to do this

good luck with Dish. The new receivers do not have smart cards. The old ones dish does a search for. Not many (if any) dish systems are hacked.
Direct is an other story. the smart chip can be altered, but you have to changer it every 90 days. If you get caught, you may spend time in jail. A guy here got 2 years.

The concept of hacking into Direct TV isn't a very easy process so don't think you can get away with pretending you didn't know about what was taking place. You also need to know that Direct TV changes the codes for their satellites often just to discourage hacking. You definitely don't want to have to pay a fine and or serve jail time because you hacked into Direct TV for a couple of days. It's just not worth it!
