Does Dish Network charge any additional fees?
Besides the package you decide to go with (including your premium channels), does Dish Network charge any additional fees (i.e., rental fees for equipment, state/local taxes, etc.)? I spoke to a rep and they told me there are no additional charges per month, so long as I have a double tuner receiver and a phone line connected to the receiver. For those with Dish Network, has this been your experience?

The only additional fee I would suggest on getting is the equipment insurance fee. I think it is like $4 or $5 a month. If you get the DVR package, the DVR may need to be replaced in the future. I have had Dish Network for 3 years and have had to replace the DVR seven (7) times. No joke.

Yes they do charge fees, but these fees are usually minimal.
$5 extra if you do not have a phone line connected. This fee is for using satellite bandwidth to download updates, such as the TV Guide, etc. $5.95 for the use of a DVR, but come on, how much are you willing to pay to be able to record any live TV program, plus have the capability of plugging in an external hard drive to expand your storage capabilities to 1TB, and yes that is 1 Terra Byte, or 1,000 GB of storage with your DVR! Plus Taxes of course! |

Oh yea, I forgot! Most systems, from Dish Network anyway, only have one receiver anyway, so there are not usually any fees associated with extra receivers. For instance, I have a two room system installed and it only uses one receiver. The other room is controlled with a remote that uses an RF Signal to change the channel. Installation is also free from Dish Network, professionally installed for up to 4 rooms.

All depends some offers include activation and installation for free though you may get additional costs to upgrade to better receivers or additional programming not offered with your package.
