I just got Dish Network. Is it better than Direct tv.?

My mother is very sick and wanted a cheaper bill. Comcast is always rasing thier prices, so I did some research and found that Dish Network was cheaper than direct tv(24.99 for 10 months). I got her America's top 100 channels, but then saw that some of the channels she has on comcast aren't availble with Dish.(unless you spend more $) But they are with Direct tv.(MSNBC, Court tv, fx,oxygen 39.99 for 12 months + setup fees) )these happen too be channels she watches. Should I canel and change too direct tv? what do you think? do people really lose reception? with dish.

I have had Direct TV for about 3 years now. I never lost reception and the only reception issue I ever had was a tree that I let grow in to the path of the antenna. This caused some drops during heavy wind. A little trim and the problem was gone.We have the DVR service and would never consider switching away from Direct TV.

I've had both, Dish Network and Directv and liked them both. I liked Directv a little more because of some of the features it had and it had a few more channels. Be careful if you decide to cancel with Dish Network and switch to Directv because Dish Network might try to charge you an early cancellation fee if you signed up for a promotional program. If you are cancelling during your grace period, make sure you save everything including the transformer on the dish because these things will have to get sent back or you will get charged.

The bad news is with any satellite you will lose signal if the anything is blocking the signal from the satellite. So if you live in an area that has severe storms you'll lose signal often. if not don't worry. Cost is about the same for both if you are getting the same channels for direct tv & dish network
