Can you tell me about your good or bad experiences with Dish Network vs. Direct TV?

My husband and I are thinking about switching from cable to satellite and we are a little nervous about the whole dish thing. I know they're better than what they used to be, but are there still frustrating problems with satellite? Help us make a decision.Thanks.

Send a message via Yahoo to dishrodger
switch. If the tech that does your install peaks the dish, you should have few problems. May go out in heavy rain or snow, but that is less then cable goes out. Also alot cheaper then cable with few increases in price.

I have Directv and i like it very much. You will lose the signal during very bad storms but usually not for very long. I've had it for a few years now and they have improved it greatly (I used to lose the signal every time it rained). The picture is digital and very clear. Where I live it is cheaper than cable and I get more channels. They also give you free movie channels every once in a while and they recently gave me 24 free pay per view movies for being a good customer.

I honestly can't advise you to switch...my dish has been out for three days now and I think the tech might be here Monday, another 30 plus dollars shot.
Dish doesn't go out too often but they expect you to pay for all repairs and service calls, unless you call them up and threaten to connect to another service, cable, direct, etc. I can say that Direct tv has better programming than dish but at a higher price. I'd say if you're happy with cable and can afford it, why bother.

If you can foot the bill, then i suppose the satellite option is much better and would be increasing the watching value much more then cable. I would go for sat dish. However some channels may be missing ,so doing the research is needed.
