I was going to order dish network today but had the feeling that I was getting ripped off (as in scam). I did the package online without the 24 month commitment however, there is a block that ask if you have a promotion number, I did and typed it in. I received a message stating that the code was not recognized, he was not able to help with that at all, then tried to sign me up for a package with the 24 month commitment. Anyone else have these type problems. Maybe I should just stick with Directv. The promotion code was for waiver of the $99 activation fee and $30 off the first month bil.

You should have called the Dish Network hotline to know if the waiver is still active.

It was probably a case of different resellers. There are several authorized dealers for Dish Network. Each reseller has their own codes and promotions. If you got a code for reseller A and tried using it at Dish Network or reseller b, it would appear to be a invalid code. The sales people probably won't tell you that because they want to make a sale.
