New user, very confused

My son just moved back home and brought his satellite with him. It is working perfectly in his room. I purchased a dual receiver and activated it through Dish Network. We hooked it up on a splitter off of his cable and it worked, but lost signal regularly. I was advised to run a seperate cable directly to the dish. We did this, but have absolutely no signal. It is run of RG6 cable as suggested, but has 0 signal from the satellite dish. Any suggestions? It's a 625 dual receiver.

Hey there, my name is Tommy Faust I work with DISH Network. I would like to check a bit about the install and equipment.

How many receivers do you have? Is the one cable originally ran to your sons room being split to the 625, or do you have one cable running to your sons receiver, and one cable running to the 625? is there a TV2 off the 625?

You can watch multiple TVs from a single Dish Network receiver. But you do have to watch the same channel and you will also lose the stereo sound.
