Operating Bell expressvu in USA
I live in Canada and have Bell Expressvu service, but winter in
Arizona USA and can not receive my same service here in AZ. Am I sighting on the wrong satellite or is Bell shielding the signal? Can I pay extra or buy a Starchoice service which I understand does NOT restrict the receiving location. Tens of thousands of INQUIRING snowbird minds want to know. Doug |

Re: Operating Bell expressvu in USA
There are some areas in the southern US that are no longer in the BEV
footprint. I forget exactly when, but when they replaced a defective bird a few years ago, there were a lot of unhappy BEV owners who posted about it. You might try a larger dish, no guarantees though. But,..why not just put your Bev sub on "vacation" get a Dish sub while you are there ? Far better programming on Dish, and you may find that even when you get back you don't want to ever switch back to BEV. And all Bev IRD's can be used for Dish. Re: Operating Bell expressvu in USA
you are outside the bev footprint. A while back they started using a more
focused beam, and it cut a bunch of the southern states of the U.S. out. AZ doesn't get much of anything on bev now because of it. A couple freeviews and a very minor smattering of crap, so unfortunately you're pretty much SOL for bev down here in AZ. <doug6388@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1172952334.797259.69020@n33g2000cwc.googlegro ups.com... >I live in Canada and have Bell Expressvu service, but winter in > Arizona USA and can not receive my same service here in AZ. Re: Operating Bell expressvu in USA
I just got back to Vancouver BC from San Jose, Malibu, Palm Springs, and San
Diego. There are many transponders and channels you cannot get because of the footprint. http://satellitetv.digitalinsurrecti..._expressvu.php <doug6388@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1172952334.797259.69020@n33g2000cwc.googlegro ups.com... >I live in Canada and have Bell Expressvu service, but winter in > Arizona USA and can not receive my same service here in AZ. I don't suppose I can use my Bev DVR on the Dish Network and will Dish Network allow me to take the Dish receiver back to Canada and use it out of the USA without giving them a USA Registration address? Unhappy BEV users who knowingly violated the service agreement?
Slightly ironic to say the least. It wasnt a "defective bird" and it was late 2003 "AMUN" <spamblocker@bell.net> wrote in message news:eset2k$tq1$1@aioe.org... > There are some areas in the southern US that are no longer in the BEV > footprint. > I forget exactly when, but when they replaced a defective bird a few years > ago, there were a lot of unhappy BEV owners who posted about it. > You might try a larger dish, no guarantees though. > > But,..why not just put your Bev sub on "vacation" get a Dish sub while you > are there ? > Far better programming on Dish, and you may find that even when you get back > you don't want to ever switch back to BEV. > > And all Bev IRD's can be used for Dish. > > > "torpainter" <painters1(REMOVEME)@hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:45e9f7e9$0$28035$88260bb3@news.teranews.com.. . > > No reason you should not get it > > > > http://satcalculator.freehostia.com/index.php > > > > > > <doug6388@gmail.com> wrote in message > > news:1172952334.797259.69020@n33g2000cwc.googlegro ups.com... > >>I live in Canada and have Bell Expressvu service, but winter in > >> Arizona USA and can not receive my same service here in AZ. Re: Operating Bell expressvu in USA
Ya, those bad old bev subscribers who spend their winters away from the
snow. or RV owners that move around. Or testers who just want to see old beachcomber re-runs, or see Susan Hay give her weather reports. As I recall, the bev bird was losing transponders so echostar had to relocate another existing bird into the slot, and to this day two are sharing the load. The newer bird had a different signal footprint and does not cover the lower western US ,and lower Florida. So some transponders on the original still work, while some on the newer bird are just not there.
