sounds like your TV is on the wrong channel. it should be on either 3 or 4 (prob. 3).
you need to get your TV to channel 3. if you can not change it with the remote, you need to go into the TV meneu to find channel 3

There should be a red reset button on your direct tv box, hold it for a few seconds to reboot the box or unplug as stated.
