All about Satellite Dish

Friends,
Isn't it astounding to feel how our world is steadily becoming smaller by the day? The satellite dish is one of the factors responsible for this revolution of turning the world into a global village, as it were.
Satellite dish television is a television that is delivered through communications satellites, as opposed to cable and conventional terrestrial television. In different areas of the world, the services of satellite television supplement older terrestrial signals, thus providing an umbrella of channels, services and subscription-only services.
The satellite networks involve significant savings per channel, when compared to cable, with noticeably better picture quality than digital cable. Other advantages include a much greater number and choice of channels including sports, religious and special language channels, improved hardware features and better customer service with less down time. Recent years have seen a great rise in the satellite dish system sales. Also high-speed-internet-through-satellite dish technology is catching on fast. The benefits comprise the fact that this is a wireless service and is directly communicated to your dish from outer space.

I think that the whole "High Speed Internet Through Satellite" thing has a ways to go..I don't know if it will every really be great simply because of the time it takes for the signal to travel into space and back. At this point, online gaming with satellite internet is practically impossible because of the latency.

I wish there where a satellite provider that would have a package that would let you make your own channel line up like the old cband dishes were. I have dish and there are several channels in my package I dont want and if I change my package I would loose some of the channels I do want. It really is a no win situation with the way it is now.

I agree with this 100%, I have channels that I never watch and wish I could replace them with ones not included in my package -wonder why they don't allow this yet
