LNB replacement

Hi,

I am new to this forum and to the world of satellite tv. when I got my direct tv the installer put up my satellite dish an a dual coaxial cable caming down to my box. The problem when he installed this is I only wanted one box to begin with. so now he cut the dual cord at the top and the bottom. This I did not mind, I spliced them back together. When I went to hook another cord up to my slimline dish, there was only one port, and three bolts. So i ordered a quad port lnb that fits on my direct tv slimline dish, and i hooked it up, but it does not pickup the satellite signal. I thought I moved the dish when I put it on, but when I put the old one back on it still works great. Could anyone tell me what the problem could be?
