Hello, maybe someone can help me. My in laws have direct tv. standard box and satellite on regular tv. Well the tv crapped the bed so they bought a new HD television.Now they want the HD reciever and HD satellite. After my wife called and chewed them down to about 60 dollars for a new HD reciever and satellite(down from 400 dollars), they said my inlaws would have to get a three year subcription renewel. They won't let them just upgrade and keep their existing contract which runs to August 2010.

My question is simply this. Can we buy a used or reasonably priced HD satellite and reciever and install it in place of the existing ones and pay 10 bucks more a month for the service or do we need to go a different route? Any insight would be helpful. We live in Rochester NY. Thanks.
