Hughesnet customer support - "your wait time may exceed 30 minutes"
Something new here..... downloads currently running like a bad dialup
connection - around 25 kb/sec. Signal strength 90, not fapped, it was fine this morning. Don't think I can stand to listen to the distorted "music" on the phone for 30 minutes while I wait. Anybody got any ideas? Anybody else having trouble? What happened to the preferential treatment business customers used to get? -- -fb- |

Re: Hughesnet customer support - "your wait time may exceed 30 minutes"
Uhhhh..... what's the MAX possible upload speed?
March 5th, 10:03PM - 35/468 kbps March 5th, 09:47PM - 32/341 kbps March 5th, 09:41PM - 45/583 kbps March 5th, 09:38PM - 22/2827 kbps March 5th, 09:27PM - 23/616 kbps Those are down/up numbers, not up/down. Yep - Hughes' speed test showed 2827 kbits/sec upload.... That's nice. Download is still in the dumper. Problem elevated to TIER 4 support. They'll get back to me some time in the next THREE days. -- -fb- |

Re: Hughesnet customer support - "your wait time may exceed 30 minutes"
Well, things just went back to normal about five minutes ago.
Haven't a clue why, though - no word from any of the "Tier 4" folks. Hughes speed test now showing around 1100 kbps down and 150 up. One of life's many mysteries, I suppose. -- -fb- |

Those are definitely strange numbers.
Do you have the TX and RX cables swapped? BIG BIG :-) Tell them if they don't get back to you in 3 days you're requesting a static IP address so that you can host a porn site! With those upload figures you can make this baby pay its way! :-) Dave |

Re: Hughesnet customer support - "your wait time may exceed 30 minutes"
UPDATE!
"Tier 4" lady called me at work today. I told her things had straightened out last night, she seemed surprised. "Are you sure it's ok now?" she asked. Duhhhhh...... She said something about it fixing itself. Sure. I continue to be impressed. -- -fb- |

But I do have to admit there are times when the downloads are slow, but mostly they seem ok. |
